“Captain America: Brave New World” is the forthcoming fourth installment in Marvel Studios’ Captain America series, scheduled for release on February 14, 2025. Directed by Julius Onah, the film features Anthony Mackie reprising his role as Sam Wilson, who has officially assumed the mantle of Captain America following the events of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”
The narrative centers on Wilson as he becomes embroiled in an international incident after meeting with the newly elected U.S. President, Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, portrayed by Harrison Ford. Ford’s casting marks his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, succeeding the late William Hurt in the role of Ross.
The ensemble cast includes Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, who takes up Wilson’s former identity as the Falcon, and Carl Lumbly returning as Isaiah Bradley. Liv Tyler reprises her role as Betty Ross from “The Incredible Hulk” (2008), and Tim Blake Nelson returns as Samuel Sterns, also known as the Leader. Additionally, Giancarlo Esposito joins the cast as the antagonist Seth Voelker, also known as Sidewinder.
Principal photography took place from March to June 2023, with filming locations including Atlanta, Georgia, and Washington, D.C. The film is part of Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is anticipated to deliver a grounded, political thriller that explores Wilson’s journey and challenges as the new Captain America.
