You can tell an iconic show by the opening scene of its premiere episode. It sets the tone and anticipation for what’s to come. The Walking Dead had Rick Grimes’ first encounter with a zombie, having to shoot a dead little girl in the head. The Last of Us had the picture-perfect recreation of the video game’s death of Sara Miller. And now, we have the ‘perfect’ opening scene of nuclear bombs dropping on Los Angeles that sets the tone for Fallout. The ‘oh shit’ wasn’t the effect of the bombs dropping, but the look on Cooper’s daughter’s face witnessing it and saying those soon-to-be iconic words: “Is it your thumb, or mine?” (IFYKYK). I’ve only gotten through the first couple of episodes, but the word is we have another hit on our hands. Now.. if we could only get Resident Evil right. 🤨
