I've joined a Personal Branding group at work to help revamp my presence on Linkedin. The last time I really 'touched' my profile was 5 years ago right before I started at my current job. I've been there for a while... gotten a few promotions, but I've never really put serious thought into my professional trajectory. Do I want to become a true manager and manage teams or projects? Do I want to stay where I'm at and try to elevate the postions? Or do I want to pivot and try something new. All of these are good questions, which I…
If Thanos were to actually wipe out half of all life in the universe, the immediate result would be a catastrophic mass extinction across all planets, with devastating ecological impacts due to the sudden disruption of food chains and vital ecosystem balances, potentially leading to the collapse of entire ecosystems and the extinction of numerous species, including humans, even if some populations managed to survive initially; the long-term effects would depend on which species were disproportionately affected and the planet's ability to recover, with some ecosystems potentially taking millions of years to re-stabilize. I had this idea a couple of decades ago to work on a connected universe set in a zombie apocalypse. This came about after I had written a half dozen short stories that all seemed to share the same world attributes. Since then I've been trying to find a way to connect all those stories, along with more recent stuff I've been writing. All the pieces seem to be in place, I just need to stop being lazy and get it done. Hopefully I can mark this off my bucket list in 2024.
One of the cool things I've been overlooking for a while is Spotify's year-end data of my listening trends. It's incredible to see/hear the rollercoaster ride I've gone on in 2023. Below is a nice video put together to showcase the whole thing.

FRANKENSTEIN'S MONSTER: (grunting) Yes, Master Dracula.
DRACULA: (smirking) Please, call me Dracula. We are equals, after all.
FRANKENSTEIN'S MONSTER: (tilting his head) Equals?
DRACULA: (nodding) Of course. We both share the distinction of being creatures of the night, feared and reviled by humans. But we are not so different,…
I was recently having a discussion with someone about creative inspirations. We were going down the list of people who inspired us in music, movies, writing, and other things. A lot of 'interesting' names came up on both of our lists when we decided to get real and strip away the quality of their character. My friend (a successful screenwriter) had to admit that Woody Allen was a big inspiration for his creative writing. Even with disgusting sexual allegations, she had to admit that his writing genius was something that she admired.
For me, I had to come clean and admit…
