Marvel's street-level Gang War continues with 3 more tie-ins. The mutant Fall of The House of X storyline brought you the "That Fall" last week,q and now continues with The Rise of The Power of X. A new volume of Ultimate Spider-man launches a new number one. And Wolverine kicks off The Sabertooth War. But my pick of the week goes to what's possibly my favorite book out right now:
Comic Book of The Week:
The Avengers #9
This week, we get the third installment of Twilight Dreaming as we kick off round two of The Avengers' battle with The Twilight Court. I can't put my finger…
I had very little time to read this week. So I just posted my expected favorite as the X-Men head into the next phase of the Fall of X. Here are my picks.
Comic Book of The Week:
Fall of The House of X

Here we are in the last week of 2023. And as usual, there's not much to look forward to this week. The one standout is the annual "Timeless" comic from Marvel that gives us a glimpse into the future of Marvel Comics for 2024.
Comic Book of The Week:
Timeless 2023 #1
This year's issue focuses on Luke Cage vs. Moon Knight with some glimpses into other future. Written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly, art by Juann Cabal. I hope this is the direction for both of these characters because they both look pretty cool.
All in all, this year's crop of…
The week leading up to Christmas was as slow as expected. As usual, The "Gang War" and "FAll of X" storylines are dominated by pull lists. Hickman's "G.O.D.S." book dropped another issue and a few more Spider comics. And while all of these books were ok, I must admit that my best read from this list has to be the collected 4 volumes of Brian Michael Bendis' "Powers".
Comic Book of The Week:
Powers Collection Vol. 1–4
I first read Powers when I got through the first volume of Bendis' run on Marvel's New Avengers. After going back and reading his Daredevil, and…
As expected, this week's pull list was pretty weak. We had a few 'Fall of X' titles, Moon Knight meets his ends, another interesting issue of the new Outsiders, and Marvel's street-level heroes continued the 'Gang War'. The list as a whole was pretty 'mid', but if I had to pick one book from the bunch, It would be:
Comic of The Week:
Miles Morales: Spider-man #13
To be honest, I've been enjoying this "Gang War" story more than I expected to. I always enjoy it when we focus on heroes on the street. In this issue, Peter Parker's strike team to…
This winter, Meet the Parkers and meet the Goblin in a Spider-Man saga unlike any other. Ultimate Spider-Man, on sale January 2024.
As the year quickly wraps up, we comic book readers know the pickings start to get slim on Wednesdays. This week, (with the exception of one Bat book) it was all Marvel. Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly reboot The Thunderbolts once again under The Winter Soldier's leadership, Jason Loo launches Sentry #1 with a new take on the character, the street-level heroes continued with the ongoing "Gang War" storyline this week in Amazing Spider-man, and we got some solid issues of X-Men, the Avengers, and Batman. But the pick of the week (as usual) has to go to:
Comic Book of The…
When it comes to the end of the year, comic books become slim pickings. We're smack in the middle of the holiday season and normally nothing groundbreaking happens for releases, so you take what you can get. I love this time because it gives me time to catch up on a lot of stuff I missed... mostly DC books. There's a ton of Batman stuff I need to catch up on, so I'm good to keep it slow, knowing that major events will start pouring in early next year.
Still, we got some treats sprinkled in this week. Marvel quietly…
Comic of The Week:
The Invicible Iron Man #12
Since it's Thanksgiving week, comics were a little scarce. But I can't tell you how much I've been enjoying this current run of The Invincible Iron Man. Cleverly inserting Tony Stark smack dab in the middle of the X-Men's Fall of X storyline, and pairing him with the unlikely partner (and now wife) Emma Frost has been an enjoyment of snarkiness and quips. I was a little apprehensive when I first heard Gerry Duggen would be penning this volume of Iron Man. But he's done an excellent job, and it's got me going…
Book of The Week:
Outsiders #1
That's right! In a week where there are Spider-man, X-Men, and Avengers comics, I pull a swerve and pick a DC book as my favorite for this week. Why? For a number of reasons. The big one is I'm a big fan of Batwoman as a character. But to be real, she hasn't had a good story since Greg Rucka and JH Williams ran in Detective Comics back in 2009. Throw in Luke Fox (Batwing), and there might be something here. This volume of Outsiders also seems to buck the tradition of being led by…
