Good stack this week. It was mostly X-Men and Batman, but good books for both sides. But the Adsolute Comes train is just getting started but you know the absolute Caped Crusader takes the nunber one slot...
Man... what a week! First off, Marvel does a book-wide memoriam to super penciler/inker/artist John Cassaday who passed away recently. He was a top tier artist who's comics he drew were like 'events' to me. His run with Joss Whedon on Astonishing X-Men stand out in my brain.
Super busy this week, so i don't have much to say. Check out the pull list...
Comic Book of The Week:
The Amazing Spider-man #60
Hickman / Messina / Wilson
Rating: 3/5
Best of The Rest:
Ok week for comics. Absolute Wonder Woman was a great read. And I took a chance and picked up a few volumes of Robert Kirkman's "Void Rivals". But my favorite armored Avengers relaunched with a new #1 this week, so you know my pick of the week had to be:
Comic Book of The Week:
Ultimate Spider-man #10
Hickman / Messina / Wilson
Tony Stark's Iron Man as been rebooted to many times, one of the interesting things is trying to figure out how the new creative team can continue his story in a fresh new way. I not familiar with writer…
Kind of a light week, so i successfully grabbed a few comics I wouldn't normally get (i.e. DC and Image stuff). This week was heavy in the Spider-corner of my Marvel stack.. including the comic of the week...
Comic Book of The Week:
Ultimate Spider-man #10
Hickman / Messina / Wilson
After the dramatic events of the last issue, Peter faces mounting pressure to balance his personal life with the responsibilities of being Spider-Man. In this issue, Peter struggles to maintain his relationships with friends and family while battling a new, formidable threat emerging in New York. The issue features fast-paced action sequences…
A nice crop of comics this week. We got the typical new X-Men and Venom War comics. And in the aftermath of "Absolute Power, I'm looking at putting a little more work into DC comics, since their "All-In" intiative suggests a jumping on point for readers. I really enjoyed Batman #153 last week so i'll put that book at the top of my list. And Superman drops this week so i'll take a closer look at that book. But of course, HOW COULD THERE BE ANY OTHER BOOK THIS WEEK HOLDING THE TOP SPOT:
Comic Book of The Week:
Absolute Batman…
This was a standard week for my books. Venom War keeps rolling on. Quality X-books keep dropping with great stories. And DC brings Absolute Power to a close, as well as setting the stage for a new era for DC comics, AND the launch of their 'Ultimate Comics'-like brand, 'Absolute Comics'. And with DC making these moves, there's only one book that was on top of my stack...
Comic Book of The Week:
Absolute Power #4
Waid / Mora
I'll be honest... I'm usually very intimidated by DC events. I'm sure the stories are good, but the amount of 'tie-ins' that drop…
It's been a busy week. Not much to say about this week's like. Nore Absolute Power and Venom War. I think i'm gettin event fatique, so i turned to a stride and true book to just give me a solid story. And that turned out to be Jed Well's Spidey comic.
Comic Book of The Week:
The Amazing Spider-man #58
Wells / Romita Jr.
Tombstone's daughter is the lone witness in his murder trial and he's done being a father. He goes after her to kill her with Spider-man in pursuit. We get a nice brawl with Tombstone and Spider-man, with his…
As usual Venom War and Absolute Power dominate my list. Giving the new Ghost Rider comic, "Spirits of Vengeane" a try since it's a number 1. And I may not have cared for Cody Ziglar's run on Spider-man: Miles Morales, but I had to grab all the back issues of his current Deadpool run because I. really digged his issue #6. But it's the Avengers week, so it's not double I'm pick it up... because Hyperion is coming!
Comic Book of The Week:
The Avengers #18
MacKay / Schiti
We pick up where the last issue left off with Hyperion.. depressed from…
A lot of Marvel comics this week. Venom War and Absolute Power are still the big events of the moment. But for my pick of the week, I had to go to the Ultimate Universe...
Comic Book of The Week:
Ultimate Black Panther #8
Camp / Noto
To be honest, even though I love the character of The Black Panther, and I loved the movies, I've never really been able to get into the whole vibe of the comic. Even when Ta-Nehisi Coates was writing his epic run, it just didn't grab me. But there's just SOMETHING about Bryan Hill's reimagining of…
This week was a nice week. 16 books is a good haul these days.. most of them I've been anticipating. So far there's been some good stuff cooking from Marvel and DC as of late. DC's Absolute Power has been a monster, along with Marvel's Venom War. As for book of the week, it was no contest...
Comic Book of The Week:
The Ultimates #4
Camp / Noto
....
This issue, we get the tragic backstory on Ultimates member Doctor Doom, who is this universe's Reed Richards. Camp give us an interesting narrative, deconstructing Reed "Doom" Richard using time jumps three periods running in parallel.…
This week was dominated by Venom and Absolute Power comics. But my pick of the week came out of nowhere, with a cross-IP book that I would've just skirted by... if it wasn't created by the Secret Wars combo of Hickman and Ribić! Of course i'm talking about...
Comic Book of The Week:
Aliens vs. Avengers #1
Hickman / Ribić
Real talk... normally, I see these 'cross-property' comics and just skip past them. I'm a suck for comic continuity, so when i see these 'elseworlds' stories that have no influence on the main Marvel 616 timeline, I perceive them to have no…
