Bingeworthy: The Strain (2014)

I don’t know how many people actually watched this show. It flew under the radar for it’s entire 4 season run. But The Strain, a vampire story, an excellent set of books written by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan was one of the best vampire horror shows of all time. To behonest, the first 3 seasons felt like more like a prequel to plot (think the first 2 seaso of Fear The Walking Dead vs. The Walking Dead). It’s a slow burn for sure, but there’s something about watching a cast of heroes fighting to figure out the sinister plot, not knowing they’d already lost.

The show follows Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the CDC’s Canary Team in New York City, as he investigates a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the virus spreads, transforming humans into vampiric creatures, Ephraim and his team join forces with a group of survivors to combat the sinister forces behind the plague. Blending elements of science fiction, horror, and thriller, “The Strain” delivers a chilling narrative of survival and resistance.

The Strain is available on most major streaming apps. Free on Disney+/Hulu (with subscription), and purchasable on YouTube.tv, AppleTV+, Amazon Prime Video, and Google Play.
