#ToddyAwards2017: Movies

I didn’t really branch out to see movies this year. To be honest, television feels like it’s surpassed motion pictures in quality and quantity. So I kinda stayed in the popular movie lane. Most of my favorites seem to lean toward the golden age of superhero movies. Movies like Thor and Wonder Woman turned out to be very good films, despite being genre films. But amongst the Marvel and DC movies, it was Baby Driver that I really had the most fun.

Baby Driver

I fell in love with this movie the moment I saw how Edgar Wright synced the soundtrack to opening credits as well as Baby’s dance routine as he brought coffee to his crew. So I think it’s the music aspect of this movie that made me fall in love with it. The whole idea of syncing music to everyday life has been a thing for me for as long as I can remember. Plus the overall story was pretty cool.

Talented getaway driver Baby relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. After meeting the woman of his dreams, he sees a chance to ditch his shady lifestyle and make a clean break. Coerced into working for a crime boss, Baby must face the music as a doomed heist threatens his life, love, and freedom.
