If you asked me why I love DJ Rap’s 1999 debut release Learning Curve, I couldn’t really tell you. It’s basically an assortment of club-based tracks, which normally don’t appeal to me. But there’s something about the melodies in this cuts that make the project stand out. Or.. maybe it’s bares a striking resemblance to Madonna’s Ray of Light that was released a year earlier. You can hear the Material Girl’s influence in the way Rap sings over her highly addictive dance tracks. In any case, Learning Curve is one of those albums I totally forget about after I’m done with it, but fall in love with it all over again when I rediscover it.
