Even though I enjoyed 2000’s Memento, I really wasn’t hat much of a fan of the whole ‘told in reverse’ narrative. So when I started watching the first episode of the new BBC One crime thriller Rellik, I wasn’t planning on making through the entire episode. But there’s just something about the grittiness of Richard Dormer (Game of Thrones, Fortitude) and the intense, sexappeal of Jodi Balfour (Quarry, Bomb Girls). Throw in the excellent Paterson Joseph (Timeless, Peep Show) as a pervy Psychiatrist and you got one hell of a cast carrying out a pretty original story.
The story is shown in reverse, starting when the suspect has recently been caught and then moving backwards in sections to finish at the beginning. The period of time backwards is shown each time on the screen.
