I’ve been waiting for the next tactical shooter game to replace XCom 2. Interestingly enough, XCom: Chimera Square and Gears Tactics both launched at the same time. Of course I was loyal and went with the XCom brand. But Chimera Squad doesn’t seem to be the next phase in the series, but more of a more scaled-down, office of the previous tactical games. It’s ok, but it doesn’t seem to have all the gameplay I wanted. Luckily, Gears Tactics looks more like XCom 2. The PC-only game might be my next purchase as a way of keeping me occupied during quarantine.
I’m dead! I did not see this coming! One of my game bro’s text me and made my day. It’s been 4 years since XCom 2 dropped and took over my life. True, the add-on XCom: War of The Chosen released in 2017 added a lot of replay value, it still was the same game. Now, it looks like XCom: Chimera is a smaller scaled adaptations of the previous games, but with just enough newest to satisfy my XCom addiction!
I like to paint myself as a big 4X game enthusiast. I’ve been playing Sid Meier’s Civilization Series since it debuted on the Mac platform in 1991. From there, I’ve played every iteration of the game.. even the Colonization series. But to be honest, venturing off into other 4X games has been unsuccessful. The only other games that’s hit the mark have been Master of Orion reboot: Master of Orion: Conquer The Stars released back in 2016 and rebooted XCom: The Enemy Within in 2012 and XCom 2 in 2016 (which I still play religiously to this day).
I’ve tried a few other similar 4X games, mostly notably Stellaris and Endless Space, but they never really caught on with me, mainly because of my impatience in taking the time to learn a new UI. But Stellaris has been back on my radar, specifically because of the community mod New Horizon, which reskins the game with Star Trek branding. That doesn’t seem too much, but the Trek ships and sound effects should be enough to keep me interested long enough to get into the game.
Looking for new ways to keep myself occupied, I’m intrigued by Playstation Now. Like Shadow, it looks like I’ll be able to play Sony games on my Mac and iPad. I’m a little hesitant to add another $10 subscription to my budget, but having access to the Playstation platform without having to shell out $500 for hardware sounds pretty sweet.
Kamala Khan, the teenager who defends Jersey City as Ms. Marvel, joins Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, The Hulk, and Captain America in the upcoming game. She has some interesting info for Tony Stark and the Avengers. Check out a bit of the story elements for Marvel’s Avengers game.
I’m a huge Xcom fan. Even 4 years after it’s release I still play it religiously. The original creator decided to start a new franchise in the vein of his previous work. Phoenix Point looks like Xcom on steroids! Even with all the Epic Games controversy, I’m still going to guy it the first week in September.
In 2022, the Pandoravirus was first discovered in the arctic permafrost by excited scientists. By 2047, it had overrun the Earth. Now, humanity is nearly wiped out, and mutated, alien creatures dominate every corner of the globe. The Phoenix Project is a worldwide organization, designed to be activated when humanity is in crisis. Now, the world’s best scientists, engineers, and soldiers look to you to lead mankind back from the brink.
I don’t know why I drop $60 every year on what seemed to be the same damn game with a shiny new coat of paint. But to be honest, I don’t care. Every year there’s just enough polish to add to the excitement of bashing another wrestler oner the head with a chair. I CAN’T WAIT!!!
The stakes have never been higher as players take on the role of lethal Tier One operators in a heart-racing saga that will affect the global balance of power. Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® engulfs fans in an incredibly raw, gritty, provocative narrative that brings unrivaled intensity and shines a light on the changing nature of modern war. Developed by the studio that started it all, Infinity Ward delivers an epic reimagining of the iconic Modern Warfare series from the ground up.
XCom is one of my favorite game franchises of all time. So when the creators of the franchise decided to build a new franchise of 4X strategy games, you know I had to try and jump on it. Luckily. I have access to a Windows Gaming platform so I’m not constrained by Mac games. But I’m debating if I’ll sign up for early access now or wait for the June 2019 full game release.
